Visakha Port opens low voltage shore power system

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Chairman Dr. M. Angamuthu has inaugurated the 1000 KVA capacity low voltage shore power system facility at East Quay-1 berth. The facility has been established with the assistance of Romas Electric Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru at a cost of Rs. 5.4 crore.The project represents a major milestone in VPA’s transition towards a low-emission, eco-friendly port ecosystem, aligned with the Government of India’s Harit Sagar Guidelines (MIV 2030). Under Harit Sagar Initiative and as a part of our commitment in prioritizing green initiatives, VPA has established the shore power facility at EQ-1 berth to promote environmentally sustainable port operations. This initiative marks a significant step towards the phased implementation of Alternate Maritime Power (AMP) at the Port. VPA is proactively integrating sustainable energy infrastructure into its operations to reduce vessel emissions and enhance overall environmental performance.
